UN Rushes to Rescue Tamil Terrorists

January 31, 2009

The United Nations is rushing to the aid of the Tamil Tiger terrorist movement, as the Sri Lankan military is on the verge of ending 25 years of Civil War:

Calls mounted Friday for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka amid growing fears for an estimated quarter of a million civilians trapped by fierce fighting between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels.

A group of international relief organizations, including UN agencies, urged the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to allow civilians to leave areas under their control, and the government to stop blocking international aid…

The European Union’s Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Louis Michel called for a halt in the war — which the Sri Lankan government says it is now on the verge of winning.

“This is an escalating humanitarian catastrophe. We are extremely worried about the terrible situation facing people trapped in the fighting,” Michel said in Brussels.

It seems to me that ENDING WARS, not sustaining them for decades through ceaseless negotiations and fruitless ceasefires is the best way to avoid “escalating humanitarian catastrophe”. Never-ending conflicts such as those in the Middle East and Africa is the legacy of the UN and it is a shameful one.

And maybe some Big Ones would long be over without their meddling.

The U.N. won’t have a reason to exist if small wars cease to exist.
