Defender launches on the Clyde

Amazing footage from last week’s launch on the River Clyde of the Royal Navy’s latest Type 45 destroyer, HMS Defender. Note the discrepancy of the smaller vessels sailing by!

    She needs some work, I think, but this is a good ship. I’m not sure Defender needs so much AA capability. Maybe a decent gun (155 mm?) & ASW capacity would be more valuable.

    The side wheeler is much cooler than Defender. Why can’t we have more ships like that?
