EU Forces Sink Suspected Somali Pirate Vessel
VOA News 12 March 2010
The European Union’s anti-piracy naval force operating off the coast of Somalia says it has sunk a suspected pirate vessel and seized another.
The operation was carried out by a German warship in the waters between Somalia and the Seychelles.
The suspect vessels had first been spotted by a Luxembourg patrol plane.
Suspected pirates rounded up during the operation were later released.

Is the Navy’s big bet on a humanitarian mission because of too much exposure to the Coast Guard during the formulation of the “Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower?” Have they invested in the “Star Fleet” vision from Star Trek watched during the formative years of the leadership? Or is it a cynical way to justify Amphibs?
