Fearing a bloodbath on both sides, we learn from the last article that the US (whose ship USS Boxer was involved) and German governments chose to back down. Very embarrassing but goes to show the risk involved with land operations, where a naval solution, specifically convoys, might have prevented the incident in the first place. As we have noted before, the Navy is the only realistic answer unless the West are prepared to see more people killed fighting pirates on land. As the headline above proves, they are not there yet.
