The Navy’s latest and most celebrated new warship comes to Charleston SC next week, according to Channel 2 News:

The USS Freedom, a Littoral Combat Ship, will arrive in Charleston for a port visit Monday.
The crew plans to open the ship for public visits Tuesday, June 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“We’re looking forward to visiting Charleston,“ said Cmdr. Michael Doran. “It’s definitely a pleasure and honor to show off the ship to the people of a city that has been such a great friend and supporter of the Navy through the years!“

Some might consider this hypocritical, considering our constant critique over the overpriced LCS, but if anyway possible we will cover this historic visit.

There was a day and time that the Navy coordinated these visits to be on a weekend so that the publick could survey these mighty leviathans in a timely manner… perhaps the cruise ship market outweighs DoD dog and pony events, with “peace in our time”
