Yorktown at Sunrise Pt 1

June 6, 2009

It was an outstanding day yesterday on the 65 anniversary of the Battle of Midway, plus the day before the D-Day anniversary, on the ship that did its part in winning the war against the Axis powers. My nephew and I trod the decks of the retired Essex class aircraft carrier USS Yorktown on Friday, and here are a few pics we took along the way. Some good news, it seems all the ships, notably the USS Laffey have enough funds for now for much needed repairs. This was something that concerned us lately and inspired this recent trip.
