Overnight we must have passed 200,000 visits! It took us 5 years to get to 100,000, and in 9 months you the readers have doubled this. Thanks so much for stopping by as always. It is you who makes this worthwile and are helping to get the message of the need for Reform out. I remember when I only had one reader, and one of my first comments was from Murdoc!

More likely your guilty pleasure is that of many of us who live in the LowCountry – boiled shrimp, Frogmore Stew, mustard-sauce barbecued ribs (from the olde Deutsch settlements around Orangeburg), other such items (my local store offers ‘gator), and the offerin’s of Red Dot stores…

From po’ Hampton County between the Coosawhatchie and Salkehatchie Rivers, D.E.

It is more editorial style right? Which is where I got my start writing. And if you put too many technical details in an opinion article the audience gets bored even if the editor lets it pass. Since the military belongs to the people, here is a site for the layman, and I think a lot of professionals like to hang out here too. A guilty pleasure perhaps!

Mike, congrats on the stats. I see no ads on your site, so this must be a labor of love, and a time consuming one, at that. I too like the historical dimension you bring to the discussions, showing how the past informs the present. Though technical details and imaginings are part of the appeal of New Wars, they by no means dominate here as they do in similar sites.

Ha ha! You guys make me blush! Thanks really.

Joe, called me Average Joe too. I’m been kicked out of many discussions with so called “professionals”, where my divergent opinions weren’t welcome, even recently!

And others sites looks like a bunch of teenagers in youtube discusing about a football game.

What I like about this site is you can find ways to participate in discussions whether you are a “wonk” or simply an Average Joe with a keen interest in this general subject area. Some sites can be informative but the “classroom participation” section looks like drunken tenured professors going at it w/a full clip of acronyms.

elgatoso-I love history. So the combining of history with present and future strategy is seamless, and very important, since with the lessons of the past we can bravely face what is ahead.

and you are one of the small number of military-historic bloggers that do not make the reader bored to the tears with political-partisan discussions

Why should you be surprise. Your blog, posts, comments, analysis, feedback from readers …. your posts are always excellent, easy to read, informative, and a must read everyday.

Do not be surprise if you double your stats in the next 6 months.

Good stuff, Mike. Might have something to do with the relevance of the topics? The keen insight and informative discussions? Or because I’m really bored with ILS and contract paperwork and so are many others?…. ;-)
