No Anonymous Commenting

November 5, 2009

We’ve had to turn off anonymous commenting. Now you have to give your name before yelling at yours truly! Don’t worry, though, we aren’t making an enemies’ list (though we are probably on a few!). Thanks as always for your patronage and always gripping discussion.

Please just go easy on the “we” unless you got a mouse in your pocket.

Isn’t it always one who messes it up for the rest? LOL

But “Anonymous” is one of our most interesting contributors.

This appears to be a better work-around than the new format over at Information Dissemination. If you use Firefox as your browser then all threads at that site have only a single (-one-) comment displayed (until you open up the content window and then see the true number of comments). Worse, you can’t comment unless you are subscribed to one of a number of online services (Twitter, etc.). I for one simply don’t like subscribing to various services just so that I can voice my opinion.

But then, Raymond Pritchet’s father has just passed away. I suspect Galrahn has far more important personal matters to attend to than a blog.

Good. I dont know whose more annoying, the people who post as anonymous or the other posters who refer to them as “anonymous”. Its always really lame when a poster says…

“Anonymous, great point on the Burke Class destroyers….”

Why would you refer to someone as anonymous? That just the default given to someone who comments without a name and email.

Good move I feel. Funnily enough some people aren’t quite so forthright when they have to give their name!
