Special congrats to frequent commenter Commander Henry Jerry Hendrix for winning Second Prize in the 2009 Proceedings Essay Contest for his inspiring and timely article “Buy Fords, Not Ferraris“. Well deserved!

Also thanks are in order for everyone who put us over the 300,000 mark today. We got here by posting articles and stories we would like to read, but couldn’t have done it without our excellent “staff” of commenter’s, including professionals and non-professionals from around the world. Well done and look forward to more excellent banter into the New Year!

You are required reading among some of my friends who work for the Ministry of Defense up here in Canada (yup …. I live in Canada) …. and I know that among the blogger community that is focused on military/defense/naval/intelligence/etc. matters, you are developing a very positive reputation.

Keep up the good work and be consistent in blogging, within a year or two you will pulling in 300,000 hits a month, and deservedly so.

I’ve already tendered my congratulations. Now, I have a new forecast to update that one I made back on September 15. I expect to see 400,000 hits by January 1, 2010. Maybe, perhaps, possibly, probably…?

New Wars went from 200,000 to (just over) 300,000 hits between September 15 and November 18, 2009. That’s only 65 days (counting inclusively), just over two months. I had forecast the blog reaching 300,000 hits within another three months (91 days) way back then on September 15 (I was too pessimistic, it seems).

It’s 54 days (just under two months) from today (November 18 to December 31, 2009) to the end of the year. I do think that it’s possible for your blog to be that successful in such a short stretch of days. But then, of course – there are multiple holidays between now and the end of the year…
