    Oh no, the pressure is on! But I have noticed in the stats for the past couple weeks we have been exceeding 3000+ daily, which is unusual. Last few months it has been averaging 2000+.

    Don’t know why, as we haven’t done much different, and the LCS posts always gets tons of interest.

    I think the public is ready for answers for defense alternatives and they are tired of the old excuses which usually involves the military needing more money. Normally in wartime the services expand greatly, but this has no longer been the case in the past few decades, awash in funds as it has been, and it is inexcusable,

    So we must be like the Tea Party of the naval blogosphere? LOL

    A couple of interesting (?) datapoints :

    10 February 2010, 5.00 p.m EST : 497,116 hits

    11 February 2010, 5.00 p.m EST : 500,355 hits

    That’s 3,239 hits in 24 hours.

    If Mike’s somehow finds a way to sustain this level of traffic on his blog, it will take a little more than 5 months from now to hit the 1,000,000 mark.

    You know what you have to do now, Mike, don’t you ? ;-)

    Scott,

    I can’t really speak to the stats for all of the last 12 months.

    BUT, OKAY… Previously, I forecast that the 500,000 mark would be reached by February 28 and the one million mark would occur by December 31, 2010.

    YET, NOW… In a bit over six months, by August 31, 2010 – I predict that the one millionth hit will be recorded at New Wars.

    Let’s all run with it, eh…

    Another 100 hits in about 20 minutes (497,116 hits @ 5.00 p.m EST), meaning about 5 hits every minute.

    Let’s do the maths :
    * 31 hours left = 1,860 minutes
    * 3,000 hits in 1,860 minutes = 1.6 hits per minute (HPM)

    5 HPM current vs 1.6 HPM needed : the 1/2 million mark might well be hit before the end of tomorrow !

    Mike,
    Scott,

    Having watched the GROWING numbers of HITS over the last 36 to 48 hours, and with the apparent appreciating rate of hits growth, then I think that the 500,000 mark will be reached either late Friday or else on Saturday. Maybe as late as Sunday, but I doubt that.

    I had repeated problems with the comments problem. I always assumed it was some overly exclusive wordfilter within WordPress that was the cause of the problem. I tried five times to submit different, varying versions of the same news item to Breaking News (0ver the course of two days) and it always disappeared upon submission (it dealt with Chinese PLAN naval expansion plans).

    Anyhow…

    HEY MIKE! GOOD WORK!!!

    Also… Perhaps Galrahn should be thanked for trying to spike Mike’s guns on his own blog. My non-factual hits count perception is that things got more engaged following that. And especially after Scott got revved up with his responses… ;-)

    I recall forecasting around December 31, 2009 that the hits on New Wars would reach: 400,000 around January 7 0r 8, 2010; 500,000 by February 28; and one-million by the end of 2010. I seem to have been absurdly conservative in my forecast – at least for when the 500,000 level will be reached…
